Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, also known as “Vhils” is an incredible sculptor and graffiti artist who is challenging assumptions by creating artwork using destructive methods.
He started out as a graffiti artist but got tired of illegally touching up walls. So, he turned his attention to billboards, painting them all white and then putting his own artwork on top, usually as a critique of consumerism and advertising.
During one of his “interventions,” he found that walls, metals and other hard material could be used to equally interesting effect.

One of the most important things in a city is the public transport system. Due to my time in Madrid I became quite a fan of the local and regional public transport. So, I decided to design a metro system for the city of Salzburg, also taking the overground railway into consideration. Be aware that parts of the overground system already exists or is in construction at this moment.
At this point I have to add that I am presenting this approach with a big fat grin on my face and also knowing that Salzburg is a far to small city for having a metro system of that size. Currently Salzburg has approximately 150.000 inhabitants, Madrid, when opening their metro system at the beginning of the 20th century had an overall population of about 825.000 inhabitants (this was in the year 1919).
However, my Metroplan involves the creation of three Lines (Line 1 – Circle Line, Line 2 – the East-West Line, Line 3 – the North to South Line). I started with a piece of paper and a map of the city, drawing underground tunnels where I thought they would belong. Actually the drawing was supposed to pass me some time on a rainy sunday, but I ended up with a complete illustration at the end of that day! I finished a first schematic plan, saved and pushed the project away for a few weeks to revise it after a certain period of time… It was still great. I made a few changes and here it is!
I was using the Aston Martin (don’t ask me which model…) from Goldfinger (Ian Fleming’s James Bond) and a quote from Kanye West’s song “Power” (2010) stating: “I was drinking earlier, now I’m driving / Where the bad Bitches at, where you hiding…”
A Poster I made today, keeping it quite simple to start with. I don’t know, if I want to use it as a decoration or for a project. There are three versions, this one is the most colorful one, so I am just publishing it here…
I recently released my latest work so far in 2010: the website of the austrian Throw Darts League (throwdarts.at). It’s a Wordpress-powered Content Management System and main presentation for the company behind the League…
